What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, phone or tablet) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognise your device and remember certain information about your visit — such as whether you have accepted the cookie notice — so it does not ask again on every page load.

Cookies are not programs and cannot access other files on your device. They contain only the information placed there by the website you are visiting.
